CofE Primary School
We are a busy primary school for adventurous children from Foundation to Year 6. Our love of learning pervades through the school and you will find us enjoying lessons inside and outside school, taking opportunies to enjoy our forest school and playing fields. We are located in the beautiful village of Compton in West Berkshire where we often go for nature walks.
We value our place in our local community and maintain an open door policy to work in partnership with our families. Every child at Compton School is treated as an individual: enjoyment, challenge and learning are at the heart of everything we do. Our pupils want to come to school and they thrive here.

School Gate Happiness
The continued success of Compton C of E Primary School reflects the strength of leadership developed through The Downland Federation, the predecessor to Summit Education Trust. This long-term support has enabled clear, confident leadership at every level, creating a well-led and forward-thinking school.
A strong focus on staff development has ensured that teachers and support staff feel valued, well-trained and equipped to deliver high-quality learning. Alongside this, improved parent communication has helped build trust, clarity and a genuine sense of partnership between home and school.
The introduction of a clear brand and marketing approach has strengthened the school’s identity within the local community, ensuring its values and strengths are well understood.
Most importantly, this has created a happy and settled pupil community. There is a real sense of pride in the school, and each day begins and ends with positive, cheerful school gates, where families feel welcome and connected.
Parent Joy

"I have 2 children in year 2 and foundation and another starting in September. We’ve had a really positive experience over the last 3 years and they are doing so well. The foundation transition was lovely and both of my boys settled into reception quickly (and had a great time too!) The whole school are always busy and up to different things each week which is great. Really pleased so far and I’m excited for my daughter in September "
"I've got a little boy in reception - he’s come on leaps and bounds. The reception teacher and teaching assistants are everything and more you would like for your children. The school is very family orientated, they like to get everyone involved. We moved from Hampshire and knew no one in the village and we’ve been made to feel so welcome at the school. Mrs Appleton isn’t just a head, she is present on drop off and pick ups, she really knows every individual child in her care. Steps in and teaches etc, she’s amazing!"
"My children are yr 3 and yr 5 and really enjoying it, also they integrate a lot with The Downs School, so by the time they move up they know the secondary school very well"
